Hi! I’m a Munich-based visual consultant with almost 15 years’ experience in the photo industry.

I‘ve worked for magazine publishers, such as Condé Nast, photo agencies in Germany and New York City, as well as marketing and creative agencies.

My first playground (aka internship) was at a small radio station in my Austrian hometown of Graz where I discovered the power and magic of editorial storytelling. I loved every minute of it.

David Alaba

I admit, I’m usually not the biggest fan of shooting with soccer players as I often find them to be a bit ignorant towards the artistic side of photography and mostly view their PR duties as a tedious obligation (which I understand. They are here to play soccer after all). There are exceptions of course. They also love (being in) GQ, so we usually had a bit more leeway when it comes to “art concepts”.
For this shoot, we visited David Alaba, an Austrian-Nigerian FC Bayern Munich player, at his second home in Vienna. I commissioned fashion photographer Stefan Armbruster to give the “homestory” vibe an additional stylish aesthetic. There was a brief moment of shock when I found out one hour prior call-time that our photo subject was still at the airport in another (neighbouring) country  but thanks to the amenities of a private jet lifestyle, we began production only with a slight delay. We also immediately broke several Condé Nast code of conduct rules which I’ll not list here but are essentially harmless in this context. Promise.
We had a pretty tight schedule as David and his rosé-sipping group of buddies he brought on set, were eager to leave to have dinner at famous Neni’s at the Naschmarkt in Vienna. So Stefan was sweating his expensive wool coat off and tried to find the best corners in the apartment.
We managed to create a (visually) somewhat personal homestory in a home that didn’t look like it was frequently occupied. David was also a playing along very well and was the most gracious host in his home, a penthouse overlooking the city. At the end of the day I made some peace with the soccer world.
