Hi! I’m a Munich-based visual consultant with almost 15 years’ experience in the photo industry.

I‘ve worked for magazine publishers, such as Condé Nast, photo agencies in Germany and New York City, as well as marketing and creative agencies.

My first playground (aka internship) was at a small radio station in my Austrian hometown of Graz where I discovered the power and magic of editorial storytelling. I loved every minute of it.

Sex, Drugs & Royals

When I worked for photo agencies, I always admired the work ethic and stamina of press photographers. It’s not unusual that they have to wait for hours, sometimes in the bitter cold or blazing heat for an event to happen or celebrities to arrive. Then they have only a short amount of time to capture the right images while fighting with the neighbouring photographer for the best view and frantically yelling at their photo subjects. Afterwards they rush to their laptops to edit, caption and transmit the photos to their agencies. This job is more challenging and less glamorous than you may think.

Anwar Hussein is one of the longest-serving press photographers in all of England (probably the world) having covered the royal family, movie sets, rock stars, politicians and many more stories from the late 50s to the present. I was so lucky that my editors would let me visit him in Bristol and write down his life story. His anectodes about London’s Swinging 60s and its heroes, the Queen’s foreign trips, behind-the-scenes- stories on James Bond sets (juicy) and intimate access to rock stars made me want to go back in time and experience it myself.
